On May 20, Guangzhou Phar. Holdings, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and Beijing StoneWise Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed an ecosystem cooperation agreement in Guangzhou. Chen Jiehui, Vice Chairman and General Manager of Guangzhou Phar. Holdings, Cheng Hongjin, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Phar. Holdings, Liu Chao, Vice President of Huawei and CEO of Manufacturing & Enterprise Group, and Su Xiaofan, Vice President of StoneWise attended and witnessed the signing. Zou Binbin, Chairman of GPHL Digital Technology, and Fan Jie, President of Huawei Pharmaceutical Industry Group, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective teams.
This partnership represents the first large-scale implementation of the landmark project jointly developed by StoneWise and Huawei for the biopharmaceutical sector. It also serves as a key practice of Guangzhou Phar. Holdings’ innovative "1+1+1" model for AI-driven pharmaceutical R&D. The deal stands as a major milestone in StoneWise’s efforts to empower leading pharmaceutical groups with digital and intelligent transformation.
The three parties are building China’s first full-stack innovation system integrating real industrial scenarios, AI algorithms and domestic computing power. This framework sets a benchmark for the intelligent and independent upgrading of China’s biopharmaceutical industry and fuels growth with new productive forces.
Leveraging their respective core strengths, the three sides will form a tightly integrated innovation consortium. Guangzhou Phar. Holdings brings mature R&D scenarios and abundant industrial resources to the table. StoneWise will deploy its world-leading core technologies for AI-based small-molecule drug design, deliver full capabilities of its AI molecular design platform Molvado and multi-agent drug design platform Molvortex, and take charge of algorithm development, iteration, optimization and on-site deployment. Huawei Pharmaceutical Industry Group will provide AI computing power, AI frameworks and end-to-end data security systems to ensure stable and efficient operation of the platforms. Together, they aim to build an independently developed AI drug design platform and accelerate the digital and intelligent transformation of pharmaceutical R&D.
Since the launch of technical docking, teams from the three companies have worked closely together. After months of technical adaptation, platform optimization and joint verification, the Proof of Concept (PoC) delivered results far beyond expectations. Powered by StoneWise’s AI molecular generation platform, Guangzhou Phar. Holdings identified hit compounds within just one to two weeks, which also passed computational assessment smoothly. In a live test generating 320 molecules in a single round, the platform achieved 1.08 times higher efficiency than the industry average, fully demonstrating its superior technological performance.
This cooperation follows the joint launch of AI drug R&D solutions by StoneWise and Huawei in March this year, marking a critical step to translate joint technologies into real industrial applications. It is also a key move for Huawei to implement its industry landmark initiative. Huawei has stated that it will continue to drive digital transformation across diverse industries, and plans to build 5 to 10 AI drug R&D landmark projects nationwide by 2026, rolling out replicable standardized solutions.
